CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Georgia opened her eyes when Rainer put a hand on her wrist.

“Hey,” she said, the sleepy lassitude burning away with the touch of his fingers on her bindings.

“Hi.” He was sitting on the mattress next to her, his long legs splayed out in front of him. “Garrett left.”

Garrett. The man who owned the lodge. That explained his sudden appearance. He’d been coming to check on Rainer.

Frowning, Georgia turned her head to check the floor. She must have fallen asleep while the two men were in the office because the groceries he’d spilled were gone.

“He sent texts to warn me he was coming, but I didn’t get them. I’m sorry—it was my fault he saw you naked. I shouldn’t have left you tied up so long.”

She heard his words, but she puzzled over her own unnatural composure. “I should be embarrassed.”

His gaze grew hot. “But you’re not,” he said.

Her brows drew together, her puzzlement genuine. But all the things she should be feeling after such an accident, the shame and embarrassment, were distant things. “No. It’s weird. Had that happened anywhere else, I would spiral.”

She shrugged. “Maybe it will hit me later.”

Like if she ever saw that man again. Yes, that made sense. But in the here and now, it wasn’t something to be concerned with.

Rainer scooted closer, his hand raised. The pad of his thumb traced her lower lip. Georgia parted her lips, licking it before drawing it into her mouth to suck.

He closed his eyes, shuddering.

A thought occurred to her, and she stopped. “You don’t expect me to have sex with your friends, do you?”

Rainer’s eyes flew open. “No! I told you, Garrett seeing you naked was unplanned. I swear.”

“I know. I was just wondering.”

He tilted his head to one side, the hand at her mouth moving to grip her neck. His hold was gentle but possessive.

“Is that something you’d be interested in? Being fucked by another man in front of me? Do you want to be shared?”

There was a dark and dangerously thread in his voice, but Georgia was in a place where she had no barriers, no capacity for prevarication.

“I’m not sure.” She frowned. “Would it make you happy?”

His fingers spasmed on her neck. It was just a touch, not enough to tighten his hold, but an involuntary and very telling gesture. “Not at the moment. Pretty sure it would make me homicidal.”

She smiled, incongruously pleased. “That’s all right, then.”

Georgia put both her hands over the one holding her by the neck. “Are you going to fuck me now?”

Fire sparked in the depths of those dark eyes. “No. You’re going to fuck me.”

His voice was guttural, rougher than she’d ever heard it. He took her hands, helping her out of bed and guiding her to the couch. But this time, he didn’t bend her over the arm.

He stripped down with fast, jerky movements. His shirt landed on the floor, his pants kicked farther away.

Rainer took her hands, picking up the slack and lopping it around to bring both wrists together the way he liked.
